Boy oh boy, it has been a while. A long while since I've written an IRL post, almost two years before I launched this website. Back then I was on an old WordPress free trial site. Now I have a better one, thanks to Claude! Anyway, I would like to use this blog post to tell you what has been going on, what I have been doing, why I haven't been uploading any videos, and what my future plans are. So here we go.
First: Burnout.
I encountered what you could call writer's block, but the video and social media version. There has been so much negative stuff going on in the world that I kind of dissociated myself from social media completely. I had such a tight schedule. Two short videos a week may not seem like much, but considering I write scripts for each of them, film, edit, do the thumbnails, set up the metrics for maximum engagement and so on, it adds up. Especially when you have a full-time job and you spend your "free time" doing all of that. The content was not suffering yet, but I was. Every video started to feel like a deadline rather than something I actually wanted to make, and at some point my brain just said enough. So I stepped back. I did not plan for it to last this long, but here we are.
Second: Financial roadblocks.
Recently I decided to build a new PC. My plan was to buy each component month by month so it would not be a financial burden. Simple enough plan. Then global events got in the way. In mid-2025, rising tensions in the Middle East led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway between Iran and Oman through which a significant portion of the world's oil supply passes. The resulting disruption to global trade sent shipping costs, energy prices, and supply chains into chaos. Electronics were hit hard. RAM I could have bought for 8,000 Turkish liras six months prior suddenly cost 26,000. GPU prices, already inflated since the crypto mining boom, climbed even further out of reach. I did manage to pick up a 4 TB NVMe drive for 26K TL before that market moved too, and now the same drive is almost 50K. So I dodged a bullet on that one, at least.
Building a PC in Türkiye during a period of both global supply chain disruption and a weakening lira is not for the faint of heart. Every month I delayed a component purchase, the price had moved. The PC is built now and I am happy with it, but the financial stress of the whole process bled into everything else, including this channel.
You might be asking why component prices affected my videos at all. The topics I make videos about are very niche and hard to get traction on organically. So with every video I have uploaded so far, I put a little money into promotion on both TikTok and Instagram. Nothing extravagant, around 400 TL per video on Instagram and about 100 to 200 liras on TikTok. But with the PC budget eating into everything, my thinking became: why make videos if I cannot promote them properly and get something back for the effort? You may not agree with that logic. You may have some objections. But that was where I was at, and it felt like the honest reason to give rather than dressing it up as something else.
Third: Space Marine 2.
I got caught up in Space Marine 2. About 200 hours across two months, so yes, I was kind of addicted. I can see some of you rolling your eyes at that, but hear me out, because this one actually has a silver lining.
I will keep making worldbuilding and book review videos, that will not change. What will change is that I am going to diversify my scope. Getting deep into Space Marine 2 pulled me into Warhammer 40K lore, then into the wider Warhammer fandom, then into the broader world of grimdark tabletop games. Some of you may already know where this is going: I also got into the lore of Trench Crusade.
So what does this mean for the channel?
It means expansion. I will be making Warhammer 40K and Trench Crusade lore videos alongside the content I was already producing. Based on how those land with you, I want to keep going further. I am already thinking seriously about the world of Cyberpunk 2077 as another direction to explore down the line.
The Warhammer and Trench Crusade fandom in Türkiye is genuinely small. A lot of people here have never even heard of these franchises, and tabletop culture is almost nonexistent compared to other countries. But that does not mean people cannot get into the lore, and I think most of you would agree that Warhammer is a lot more than just a tabletop game at this point. It is novels, games, films in development, a whole mythology. I saw a gap and I want to fill it. Turkish language content covering these worlds in depth is rare, and I think there is a real audience for it that just has not been reached yet. I will say I am slightly on the fence about Trench Crusade specifically. Those of you familiar with it know it carries very heavy religious undertones, and honestly, as of writing this, it may not be the best time to wade into that territory. The world feels like a keg full of gunpowder right now, and I have no interest in making content that adds to that noise. So I will tread carefully. If the Trench Crusade videos slow down or stop at some point, now you know why.
What comes next.
The first new video is already in the scripting phase. It will be a Warhammer 40K lore piece, and I want it to set the tone for this new direction properly. After that, I plan to get back into a more consistent rhythm, though I am going to be realistic about the schedule this time. One video a week rather than two. Sustainable over burnout, every time.
The blog will also be more active going forward. IRL posts like this one, plus written versions of some of the video topics for people who prefer to read. The website has come a long way and it feels like a waste not to use it properly.
